The forum spanned five themes: equities, IPOs, impact investing, fintech, and artificial intelligence, reflecting a broader shift in Mongolia's investment story beyond its traditional mining and resource narrative.\n\nAmong the speakers was Badral Sanlig, founder and CEO of Egune AI, who presented \"Why Mongolia Built Its Own AI,\" the story of building foundational models pre-trained, not merely fine-tuned, entirely within the country.\n\nEgune's research traces back to 2008, drawing on 18 years of work and a 30-year digitized archive to develop models ranging from 4 to 70 billion parameters, trained on more than 10,000 hours of Mongolian speech. The result is a suite of culturally and linguistically grounded AI capabilities spanning understanding, generation, listening, speaking, and vision, designed to operate on national infrastructure and keep sensitive data within the country.\n\nThat work already powers Mongolian government, banking, and industrial sectors.
